PIABC Level 2 Extended Diploma in Polymer Operations
The PIABC Level 2 Extended Diploma in Polymer Operations (QN: 603/3796/5) is a nationally recognised qualification that has been designed to provide learners working in the polymer operations and related sectors with the industry specific knowledge and skills appropriate for the day-to-day activities of the polymer operations environment.
This is appropriate for those wanting to enhance their employment and progression opportunities in the polymer processing and related sectors, and it is an ideal accompaniment to related apprenticeships. Typical learners are those already working in the industry who want to extend their knowledge and skills to gain a recognised qualification and people within the industry who want to operate more professionally and effectively.
There are no specific entry qualifications for this qualification but it is intended for those learners who are new to the industry.
The qualification is comprised of six units:
- Principles and requirements of polymer processing
- Health, safety and environmental principles when operatiing polymer processes
- Quality, process control and improvement techniques used in polymer processing
- Prepare, start up and shut down a polymer processes
- Basic skills in mathematics, communication and behaviour required in a polymer processing environment
- Install and prepare a polymer processing forming tool and ancillary equipment for production
This qualification is assessed through a combination of assignments and observations which are set, marked and internally quality assured by the training centre and externally moderated by PIABC.
